MAC Bad Fairy

Alright - so I know I'm very late to the party on this polish, but when it came out I was just about to head to the UK and certainly couldn't afford it. I got to look at it longingly in all the department stores over there and in every single one it was sold out, bar the tester bottles.

Luckily for me, I have enough saved now to buy this limited edition before it disappears forever.
And if you haven't got this already, I strongly suggest you get thyself to ebay!

So - for the uninitiated, this polish was part of the MAC Venomous Villains Collection 2010 which featured 3 gorgeous duochrome polishes. It quickly became apparent to polish aficionados that two of the colours had dupes in Orly's Cosmic FX collection. But "Bad Fairy" does not. There are a few that are apparently close - but no one seems to have found an exact copy of this colour, hence I thought it wise to get it while the getting's good. *EDIT - Emma in the comments says there's an Accessorize polish in the UK called "Pink Spice" for 4 measly pounds that's a dupe. I'm allergic to the Accessorize stuff, but everybody else - go have a look!

Plus I don't own anything MAC, and the collector in me was screaming "DO EEEET!"

This ended up costing $32US or $30 Australian, including the postage. I could've picked it up for as cheap as $16, but the seller looked kinda shonky.
This originally sold in Australia for $22, so another $8 on top of that was quite reasonable to my mind.

So here it is in my warm little mitts -

This is the second most expensive polish I've bought after my beloved N'fus. And it's a smallish bottle, too. Only 10 mls.

So - was it worth it?
HELL YES! Dusky strawberry to magenta pink, flickering into gold and copper. It's truly the best duochrome (or multichrome?) I've ever seen.

I've tried to mix up the lighting here, so you can see the differences, but nothing beats seeing it in real life.

This is 3 coats. It goes on quite sheer - you'll have to build it up. But that being said, the formula is good, glass-flecky and smooth. Is the formula better than others cos it's MAC? Not really. Orly's FX collection is about the same quality in my experience. But I wanted this colour.

Trying to get an angle so the camera could pick up the gold...

OK - that wasn't very flattering, but you get my point :)

So in summary - if you don't own this, you really should. But get your skates on, cos it's getting rarer.
This is taking pride of place in my collection.
So. Worth. it.

It looks beautiful on you! I have OPI The Show Must Go On, so can't justify Bad Fairy, though I like how it's more strawberry tinged than red...No! Must not indulge! Haha.

Hahahaha yeh I know, I'm crazy! The polish addict in me regrets it big time because the set is incomplete now (I have the other two from the collection as well), but I would have never worn it so it is for the best.

This is one polish I sort of regret not getting. I bought Mean & Green from the same collection, but Orly Space Cadet is dupe of that. All three polishes from the Villains collection were really gorgeous.

For any UK readers, there is an identical dupe, much cheaper, by Accessorize called "Pink Spice"!! it's £4 by comparison to whatever the extortionate price of MAC is! Anyway, this polish looks amazing on your nails and I feel compelled to get my Accessorize dupe out ;) haha xxx

Laura - *does enabling dance* You know you wanna!

Deb - Yep, I have Space Cadet and I'm in the process of sourcing Galaxy Girl as a dupe of the other one (forgotten the name). They're all very gorgeous :)

Emma - Oooh! Thanks - I'll amend the post and tell people that :) I'm allergic to the Accessorize polishes so I guess I'm stuck with MAC, but good to know :)

I have the Orly dupe. Every time I want a MAC polish it ends up being a LTD ed. It always sells out on me. Glad you finally got this beauty. Looks gorgeous on you.
